Position Description

The NIH-funded Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST) Research Program at UT Dallas is seeking to recruit three qualified first-time tenure-track faculty members in the broad and intersecting fields of cancer, brain/neuroscience, and biomedical engineering. All research areas are welcome, including mechanistic, quantitative and population science approaches.

We seek to recruit a cohort of junior faculty from broad backgrounds who will drive research in health-related fields and catalyze a climate of inclusive excellence. Through these hires and related research activities, UT Dallas aims to enhance our academic and research missions, help new hires succeed, and strengthen our rich environment to benefit everyone at UT Dallas. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience: Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree and the ability to direct independently-funded research programs. Candidates may not have held a prior tenure-track position or have received an independent NIH research award, such as an R01 or equivalent. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

Schools and Departments

Successful applicants will be appointed to faculty positions in the academic schools and departments that best match their research and teaching interests. These include the Departments of Neuroscience, Psychologyand Speech, Language and Hearingin the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences, the Department of Bioengineeringin the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Sciences, and the Departments of Biological Sciencesand Chemistry and Biochemistryin the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Continue to expand professional influence in the academic discipline through research and/or publication;
Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints .
