SALARY: $15.00/ HR OPEN TO ONEIDA ENROLLED TRIBAL MEMBERS ONLY
NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK:32 HOURS PER WEEK

INTERN DUTIES/PROJECTS

  1. Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  2. Be comfortable building positive relationships with the community and its' members.
  3. Assist with facilitation of programming and events in a variety of settings for youth, elders, and other community outreach group
    1. Assist with the creation and development of activities, crafts, language, or cultural presentations, and more.  
    2. Provide feedback to the Community Programs Coordinator and Manager. 
    3. Assist with tracking of member participation and recruitment for future programing 
    4. Assist with meal preparations when applicable. 
    5. Actively engage with members and participants during events and programs.
  4. Address participant and member issues promptly and accordingly.
  5. Proactively offer assistance and be available to answer any questions to our guests.
  6. Create marketing documents for activities, events, and programs.
  7. Assist in facilitating an overall positive clientele experience.
  8. Assure security, confidentiality, quality services and professional standards at all times.
  9. Adhere to all Tribal Personnel Policies and Procedures, Tribal Standard Operating Procedures, and Area and Program Strategic Plans and Policies.
  10. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

INTERN SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/COLLEGE MAJOR
  1. Major in: Business, education, community, social sciences, or a related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  1. Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, squat; reach with hands and arms. Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  2. Work is generally performed in an office, education, recreation setting with a moderate noise level. Work is occasionally performed outdoors when weather permitting.
  3. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.
  4. The ability to work a flexible schedule up to 32 hours per week.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Ability to learn the Oneida community, history, and culture.
  2. Learn to operate various Microsoft programs and software.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently verbally and written.
  4. Ability to lead and assist group and individual activities.
  5. Ability to exercise independent judgement.
  6. Ability to demonstrate a high level of sensitivity to community issues and concerns.
  7. Ability to gain and maintain positive working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  8. Must have excellent character, enthusiasm, adaptability, patience, and creativity.
  9. Ability to work positively in a team setting.
  10. Desire to work with youth and other community outreach groups.
  11. Must be willing and able to obtain additional training.
  12. Must adhere to strict confidentiality in all matters. (Must sign a confidentiality statement prior to employment.)
  13. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must adhere to the Nation's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  14. Must pass a background security check with the Oneida Nation in order to meet the Employment Eligibility Requirements, Tribal/State Compact and/or Oneida Nation Gaming Ordinance as they pertain to the position. A temporary license or Gaming License issued by the Oneida Gaming Commission is required as a condition of employment and continuing employment within the Oneida Nation's Gaming Division.
