After successful completion of the probationary period, employee will receive off probation wage increase.


Summary:

Maintain the daily operations of the Aquaponics Operations. This will include caring for the plant and aquatic life, harvesting of resources, and keeping any pertinent records resources. Maintain assigned agriculture projects as needed, such as community gardens, harvest assistance, etc. This is an agriculturally exempt position. This is a seasonal position. 


Responsibilities:

* Work collaboratively and under coordination with the Oneida Community Integrated Food Systems (OCIFS) staff to perform regular assigned duties, including but not limited to, aquaponics facilities, community garden projects, harvest assistance, etc.
* Keep timely records of activities and assigned tasks.
* Assist with upgrades to infrastructure and improvements.
* Assist with implementation of activities of program development.
* Perform routine maintenance and/or minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on equipment as needed.
* Contribute to a team effort and accomplish related results as required.

Skills:

Essential:
* Knowledge of all equipment operation and ability to diagnose and repair minor breakdowns
* Ability to follow directions and work independently
* Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing
* Basic knowledge and skill in mechanical aptitude.
Nonessential:
* Knowledge and experience of the Oneida Community, its history, language, and culture with the ability to integrate into work.

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Applicants age 50 and older are exempt from this requirement
* High School Diploma HSED GED Required or Obtain Within 1 yr

* Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older

* Work is generally performed in an agricultural outdoors setting.

* Exposure to natural weather conditions, high and low temperatures, various dust and mists, and normal debris, chemicals, and hazards common at farming sites may occur while performing outdoor duties.
* Prolonged standing and walking may be on uneven surfaces or unstable ground.

Experience:

Nonessential:
* Prior experience in agriculture and gardening.
* Prior experience in an aquaponics system.

Must be willing and able to obtain additional related education and training.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
