THE ROLE:

A senior technical contributor that drives end-to-end delivery of external laser module solutions, directly contributing to, and coordinating implementation and optimization across multiple teams for optical IO deployed in next generation AI and HPC applications. The position will involve interfacing with hardware engineering teams and AMD partners to plan, develop and optimize external laser module solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the cutting edge of next generation GPU Computing.

 

THE PERSON:

You are a subject matter expert and strong technical contributor with lasers, supporting components and control algorithm experience. You excel as part of a team where communication and team skills are highly valued.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development of external laser modules for DWDM and CWDM applications in next generation AI and HPC applications.
  • Product definition and specification of modules, components and control algorithms.
  • Coordination with internal systems customers, operations teams and program management to drive NPI and product management.
  • Planning, implementation and management of projects and programs.
  • Evaluation and management of external suppliers and vendors.
  • Define and release characterization, reliability and production test requirements.
  • Assess risks and mitigations with quantified process and design FMEAs.
  • Evaluate field returns and yield fallout to establish root cause and corrective actions.
  • Design, implementation and evaluation of internal and external prototypes.
  • Define laboratory equipment, measurement methods and metrology.
  • Work with international teams and partners.
  • Communicate and document plans, status and results.
  • Build team to support multiple laser module products and programs.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent knowledge in laser technology, hands-on laboratory experience with laser systems.
  • Engineering experience with DFB, quantum dot and nonlinear lasers.
  • Extensive understanding of laser measurement and characterization techniques. 
  • Use of simulation and modeling tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • MS EE/Physics, PhD EE/Physics preferred.
