THE ROLE:

The AMD GPU team is looking for inquisitive, motivated Graphics Designer/Micro-Architect - Shader Core with experience to build ground-breaking GPUs. As a member of our design team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of high-performance, low power Shader/SIMD processor sub-system modules. You will work closely with architects, design engineers, verification engineers, and physical design engineers teams to accomplish your tasks. You are meticulous about Power, Performance and Area while driving schedule and managing cost. This senior role will stretch you as you lead design teams in new directions, network with our world-class, patent-holding think-tank, and negotiate amongst design teams


THE PERSON:

You have excellent communication and presentation skills, demonstrated through technical publications, presentations, trainings, executive briefings, etc.  You are highly adept at collaboration among top-thinkers and engineers alike, ready to mentor and guide, and help to elevate the knowledge and skills of the team around you.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the micro-architecture feasibility studies, requirements, drive technical specifications to meet those requirements, provide technical direction to design teams and implement in RTL.
  • Work cross functionally with IP/Domain architects to identify and assess complex technical issues/risks and develop micro-architectural solutions to achieve product requirements.
  • Knowledge sharing and other contributions to Architecture and design teams
  • Work closely with  Physical design team for Area and Floorplan refinement, Verification Test plan reviews, Timing targets, Emulation plans, Pre-Si bug resolution and Performance/Power Verification sign offs .
  • Develop flows and tools as necessary in support of design activities.

 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficient in IP level ASIC design
  • Experience in micro-architecture and RTL development of complex, high speed designs, ideally in CPU/GPU (Shader)/NPU/Compute subsystems
  • Demonstrated expertise in low power design and power optimization, along with power impact at architecture, logic design, and circuit levels
  • Excellent communication, management, and presentation skills.
  • Adept at collaboration among top-thinkers and senior architects with strong interpersonal skills to work across teams in different geographies

 ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Undergrad degree required. Bachelor's or Master's degree in related discipline preferred
