Summary

The Lead Architect plays a crucial role in shaping the technical direction of Stifel's technology products, ensuring that they meet functional and non-functional requirements while adhering to best practices and industry standards. In a Scaled Agile Environment (SAFe), the role of a Lead Architect takes on additional responsibilities and considerations to support the principles of agility and scale.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

• Provides technical guidance and direction to the architecture team, ensuring that architectural best practices are followed and that technical debt is minimized.
• Creates high-level and detailed system architecture designs that consider scalability, performance, security, and cost.
• Works closely with Technology teams, Product Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and other stakeholders to align architecture decisions with the goals and priorities of the Agile Release Train (ART).
• Identifies and defines architectural epics or features that provide an architectural runway for ARTs.
• Identify and define architectural epics or features that provide an architectural runway for Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and ensure these are prioritized on the backlog.
• Create high-level and detailed system architecture designs, considering scalability, performance, security, and cost.
• Communicates architectural decisions and strategies to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, ensuring alignment and understanding.
• Be a trusted advisor and mentor, guiding colleagues and stakeholders toward enterprise architectural decisions that enhance customer efficiency, reliability, and value.
• Continuously evaluates and improves architectural processes, tools, methodologies, and technologies to enhance the development process's efficiency and effectiveness, including fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Mentors, develops, and leads team members, helping them grow their technical skills and abilities while encouraging and advocating for career advancement.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of architectural patterns, design principles, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Experience with cloud-based architectures and technologies.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Ability to lead a team.

Education & Experience 

• Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Preferred: Advanced degree
• Minimum Required: 10 years of experience in software architecture, focusing on large-scale enterprise and cloud-centric applications.

Certifications: 

• Certification in SAFe or other Agile methodologies is preferred.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional designations are highly desirable.
