Primary Purpose:  

Norfolk Southern is seeking a skilled and adaptable mechanic with broad experience in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a diverse array of vehicles and equipment, including small engines, utility vehicles, construction machinery, and agricultural equipment. In addition to mechanical expertise, this role requires the flexibility to assist with the day-to-day operations of the facility, including heavy equipment operation, guest services, and other facility-related tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capability to work independently in a dynamic, outdoor environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to: 

  • Golf carts, ATVs, and UTVs 

  • Lawn mowers and small engines 

  • Tractors, skid steers, and backhoes 

  • Trucks, trailers, and heavy machinery 

  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, brake work, and tune-ups. 

  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for damage or wear, and lead efforts for necessary repairs  

  • Assist with guest services and perform other facility related tasks to support daily operations.  

  • Order parts and maintain accurate service records for all equipment worked on. 

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize repairs and manage workflow. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience as a mechanic with experience across a wide range of vehicles and machinery. 

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. 

  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems and perform repairs. 

  • Familiarity with heavy equipment such as backhoes, tractors, and loaders is essential. 

  • Experience with small engines, golf carts, and other utility vehicles 

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Valid driver's license – a CDL is preferred but not required
