Unit Description: The Behavioral Health Center at Capital Regional is dedicated to meeting the growing needs in our community for behavioral-health-specific healthcare. Our state-of-the art center provides a continuum of care that addresses both acute phases of illness and the follow up that is necessary to maintain excellent patient outcomes within a compassionate and caring environment. We serve an adult population; all patients are at least 18 years old. Our patients' primary diagnosis is psychiatric (both mood and psychotic disorders), and they may also have a dual diagnosis related to substance or alcohol abuse.
The 24-bed unit, is designed for the safety and comfort of our patients. The program provides our patients with medication management, as well as individual and group-based therapy programs. Groups are led by all members of the treatment team based on the daily schedule.
The Behavioral Health Center's treatment team consists of licensed professionals including Board-Certified Psychiatrists, Physicians, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Recreational Therapists, and Mental Health Technicians.
Position Summary: The Department Charge Nurse is a Registered Nurse who is accountable to the Nursing Director for clinical and operations functions of an assigned unit. The Charge Nurse assumes the responsibility of managing the unit's clinical and operations activities in the absence of the Director.

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
· Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or BSN required
· Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required
· BLS – AHA Healthcare Provider required
· RN-C preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
· One (1) year of psych nursing experience required
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
· Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to transcribe physician's orders
· Knowledge of universal precautions
· Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs
· Basic computer skills
· RN-Basic arrhythmia test recognition – have upon hire or within 30 days of hire with a 90% passing score
