The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a highly-qualified postdoctoral research fellow in the area of aeroelastic modeling and design optimization of floating offshore wind turbines. This position is in support of a new multi-institution project lead by UT-Dallas funded by ARPA'E's Atlantis program in the area of floating vertical axis wind turbines. Candidates should have interests and expertise in analysis and design of aero-elastic systems; more specifically, candidates should have background and interests in aerodynamics, structural dynamics, dynamic modeling, and optimization.
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred qualifications include experience in one or more of the following areas: aero-elasticity, wind energy systems, multi-disciplinary design optimization, hydrodynamics, floating systems, and mentoring student researchers. Anticipated research activities include development and analysis of new control-oriented coupled models of aero-hydro-elastic models for floating verticle axis wind turbines, as well as range of other activities in design optimization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties to include, but not limited to conducting research, designing experiments, writing articles, and training graduate students.
This position is an opportunity to develop unique experience in the design of novel floating offshore wind turbine technologies and work with a large, multi-institutional research team. For postdoctoral researchers, this position requires the recent or near-term future completion of a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant degree program.
