The Misra lab in the Department of Biological Science at University of Texas-Dallas is looking for a highly motivated individual to assist with management of laboratory research funded by the National Institutes of Health to investigate the molecular mechanisms of regulation of growth and morphogenesis during development. The projects combine genetics, cell biology, and biochemical analysis of developmental processes that are critical for appropriate organ development using Drosophila as a model organism. Candidates should be self-organized, curious and highly motivated. This position will oversee operations within a research laboratory.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a related field. A minimum of two years experience with lab equipment and related facilities.



Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree
  • Experience with Drosophila
  • Supervisory Experience


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Train students on how to use the equipment in the lab, how to do the experiments, and how to clean up (including all the safety regulations)
  • Coaching, supervising, students, assigning tasks and aiding with experiments
  • Prepare buffers and solutions used in the lab
  • Maintain supplies and responsible for ordering materials for the lab
  • Managing chemical waste
  • Equipment repair and maintenance troubleshooting
  • Track all the inventory of the lab: this includes chemicals, DNA plasmids, DNA oligos, enzymes, proteins, solutions, etc.
  • Manage student/PI schedules for lab meetings, etc.
  • Contact maintenance when needed.
  • Perform necessary Lab work
  • Ensures consistency and build relationships with the students to foster positive work environment

A remote work schedule is not available for this position.
