Summary of Job Duties: The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will work closely with UAMS advancement staff, faculty, and senior administrators to coordinate multi-faceted strategies in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporations and foundations. The director will have demonstrated success in soliciting gifts from corporations and foundations and will maintain a number of active proposals at and above $25,000, experience with event planning and the ability to manage multiple prospects and projects.

Other responsibilities include coordinating corporate and foundation donor events and campus visits; writing and submitting proposals and impact reports; working with faculty and volunteers as needed to assist in developing relationships; and supporting a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, especially those related to or in decision-making roles with corporations or foundations with which UAMS is in a philanthropic relationship.

The director will work closely with the senior director for corporate and foundation relations in developing annual fundraising and partnership growth plans resulting in cultivation strategies/tactics, including specific activities (e.g. UAMS faculty and leadership engagement, impact reporting, a schedule for drafting letters of inquiry and full proposals, campus visits, corporate visits with faculty, etc.) that will take place with corporations and key faculty during the fiscal year. This employee will also work in-person in the advancement office in Little Rock at least 24 hours a week. This position may work remotely within an appropriate home office setting at other times and the setup of which is the responsibility of the employee.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus four (4) years of fundraising, corporate, foundation or related experience.

Special knowledge, abilities and skills:

  • Demonstrated success in building meaningful and long-term relationships with donors and strategic partners.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of philanthropic and fundraising best practices.

  • A deep understanding of research in academic settings.

  • Experience, sensitivity, and diplomacy in foundation-related fundraising.

  • Experience with fundraising databases and knowledge of prospecting tools and reports within fundraising systems or other prospective donor relations systems.

  • Experience with event planning.

  • Excellent judgment, interpersonal, and communication skills to articulate a compelling case for major philanthropic support of programs, present institutional objectives persuasively, and translate complex concepts into compelling fundraising proposals.

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to craft and implement fundraising plans.

  • Takes initiative, meets deadlines, adapts to changing priorities and manages multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate opportunities, develop effective plans and strategies, assess feasibility, and evaluate results.

  • Ability to function effectively in a complex organizational environment demanding high energy, discretion, patience, enthusiasm, and humor.

  • Ability to coordinate activities with other offices on campus who are also involved in working with foundations (notably ORSP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in raising major gifts in an educational, non-profit, research or health care setting.

  • Historical success in event management, alumni relations, and stewardship.
