Your Role:

 

The Site Inspector for Utility Pole Inspection will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of utility poles and associated infrastructure to ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in various field conditions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive visual and physical inspections of utility poles, anchors, guy wires, and associated hardware.
  • Assess the condition of poles, checking for signs of wear, pole rot, damage, or deterioration.
  • Utilize specialized inspection tools such as range finder, Trimble, cameras and equipment to gather data and evaluate pole integrity.
  • Document inspection findings, including photographs and detailed notes, and prepare inspection reports.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards or compliance issues encountered during inspections.
  • Collaborate with engineers and team leads to recommend remedial actions for identified issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and compliance with safety regulations 22/04.
  • Stay up to date with industry standards, safety regulations, and inspection techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Participate in training programs and safety meetings to enhance skills and knowledge related to utility pole inspection.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in utility pole inspection with Hydro One, Toronto Hydro, Alectra or other utilities, civil engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to utility pole safety and inspection (e.g., IEEE, NESC).
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment (e.g., voltage testers, measuring devices, range finder).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights.
  • Valid Ontario G driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and data entry systems is a plus.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and climb for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as necessary.

  

Additional Information

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
