Description
The New Accounts Manager-International will manage and enhance the account opening process for international clients while ensuring rigorous due diligence and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role will lead a team of professionals and work closely with other departments, such as Legal, Compliance and Tax, to facilitate the seamless onboarding of international accounts and oversee ongoing operational activities. The Manager is also responsible for handling complicated subject matter, including the day-to-day management of workloads, associate development, and associate reviews.
What We're Looking For
- Develops and implements efficient processes for onboarding international clients, including individuals, corporations, those with complex and layered structures, and institutional investors.
- Collaborates with the Compliance, Legal and Tax departments to ensure adherence to international regulatory requirements and internal policies. May also work with other areas across the firm to help onboard clients such as ACAT, IRA, and/or Margins.
- Review and analyze documents in both English and Spanish to determine if they meet onboarding requirements. This may include corporate registry documents for various jurisdictions, Power of Attorney documents and other legal documents to determine authority. Work with translator service to obtain certified translations for required onboarding documents when documents are not in English.
- Streamlines documentation and verification processes to expedite account openings while meeting regulatory requirements and following established procedures. This may include escalation processes and prioritization of daily tasks.
- Conducts in-depth due diligence reviews on prospective international clients to assess risk and compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) standards. This includes the ability to identify documentation required for onboarding various account types in different jurisdictions.
- Continuously updates and improves the due diligence procedures to stay ahead of emerging risks.
- Collaborates with compliance to respond to regulatory inquiries and audits, ensuring full compliance with international regulations.
- Fosters strong relationships with branch support and financial advisors by providing exceptional support during onboarding and throughout the client's lifecycle.
- Promptly addresses client inquiries and concerns, demonstrating a commitment to excellent client service. This may include meeting with advisors and clients to discuss onboarding processes.
- Leads and motivates a team of operations professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Identifies opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements in the account opening and oversight processes and collaborates with management to implement innovative solutions.
What You'll Bring
- Strong understanding of international financial regulations, AML/KYC standards, and complex corporate structures registered in international jurisdictions.
- Strong understanding of onboarding processes.
- Familiarity with various corporate registries in international jurisdictions.
- Ability to identify and prioritize tasks and meet assigned deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with international clients.
- Understanding of various account structures for international business such as PIC, PHC, Trusts, Disregarded entities, etc. and various W8's that are used. Also, a strong understanding of domestic structures such as LLC's, Partnerships, and C/S Corporations.
- Demonstrates leadership abilities and proven skills in managing associates and developing teams.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Spanish fluency with the ability to speak and read English and Spanish regarding review of documents.
- Other Latin American languages are a plus.
Education & Experience
- Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum Required: 8+ years of supervisory and financial industry experience emphasizing international account operations, due diligence, and compliance (AML).
Licenses & Credentials
- Minimum Required: FINRA SIE, Series 7 and 63 or 66 licensing or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.
Systems & Technology
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. #LI-AS1
