Description

The Investment Strategist is a contributor to the development and implementation of the Investment Strategy offering within Stifel's Investment Products & Services (IP&S). In this capacity, the Investment Strategist interacts with both Financial Advisors and their clients with a high level of accountability to multiple constituencies. The position requires meaningful knowledge of equity and multi-asset class investing, knowledge and experience with financial data and analytical tools, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.



What We're Looking For

•Under the general direction of the Chief Investment Officer and/or Director of Investment Management & Guidance, contributes to the day-to-day management and conducts in-depth fundamental research and equity analysis to support investment decisions for direct equity and multi-asset class portfolios.
•Conducts primary research on investment and macroeconomic themes, drawing upon numerous sources of related data and third party research.
•Contribute, write, and/or edit investment insights, market analysis, and investment thesis commentaries for both internal and external audiences.
•Collaborates with other members of the Investment Strategy to official develop capital market assumptions (CMAs) for the Firm's strategic asset allocation analysis and resulting Strategic Asset Allocation model portfolios.
•Collaborates with other members of the Investment Strategy and other Stifel market/investment experts to establish Investment Strategy themes.
•Presents these investment and macroeconomic themes in the group's written materials, multimedia presentations, and live/recorded calls for Financial Advisors.
•Works with the IP&S product groups to commercialize investment themes and portfolio positioning, including structured investments and alternative investments.
•Collaborates with other members of the Investment Strategy to execute key publications and presentations on a daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and ad hoc basis for Financial Advisors and clients.
•Periodically presents on the weekly IP&S call. Requires the ability to contribute to the development of the narrative and present it effectively and compellingly to the community of Product and Solutions professionals.
•Collaborates with the IP&S Portfolio Solutions team, providing Investment Strategy guidance as that team engages with advisors and clients in delivering customized investment solutions.
•Conducts financial advisor meetings, client meetings, and represents the Investment Strategy Group in client meetings and public forums, sometimes requiring travel by car and/or air to local, regional and/or national destinations.



What You'll Bring

•Meaningful experience and expertise in macro-economic analysis, including both primary research and curation/assessment of third party analysis.
•Deep knowledge and experience in equity security analysis and portfolio management across multiple styles (large cap/small cap, value/core/growth).
•Meaningful experience and expertise in both top-down and bottom-up investment analysis, including strategic/tactical asset allocation, multi-strategy investing, fixed income portfolio management, equity portfolio management, and equity security analysis.
•Meaningful knowledge of multi-asset class investing.
•Extensive experience and expertise working with financial data and related analytical tools.
•Detailed knowledge of securities including but not limited to stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, structured products, alternative investments, and options strategies.
•Solid knowledge of investment advisory business including advisory program types.



Education & Experience

•Minimum Required: Master's degree in Finance or related field, or Bachelor's degree in Finance while holding the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, or is an active CFA candidate.
•Minimum Required: 3-5+ years' of related, substantive investment experience



Licenses & Credentials

•Minimum Required: Series 7 and 63



Systems & Technology

•Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite
•Extensive knowledge using financial data/analytical systems and tools, especially Bloomberg, Factset, S&P Cap IQ, Morningstar Direct, and Microsoft Excel macros (VB)
