Overview
The Office of Compliance and Enforcement (OCE) is seeking highly motivated individuals for two home-office-based law enforcement positions. Investigators are responsible for conducting youth access compliance checks, regulatory inspections, and complex criminal and regulatory investigations to determine appropriate administrative or criminal enforcement actions. Working as part of a team, investigators are assigned to a geographic zone and focus on enforcing and administering Vermont liquor and lottery laws and regulations.
Preference will be given to applicants residing in Southeastern Vermont for one position and Northeastern Vermont for the other. Work is performed under the general supervision of the DLL Sergeant. Applicants must reside in Vermont.

Work is performed in a standard office setting as well as in the field. Frequent travel, exposure to the elements, and evening and weekend work is required. Stress may be encountered in dealing with arrestees, licensees facing punitive action or other individuals, including those under the influence of impairing substances. There is some risk of physical harm and exposure to potentially hazardous conditions. Patience, tact, and diplomacy must be exercised on a regular basis in dealing with licensees, employees, and the public. Significant work outside of normal business hours should be anticipated. Position is home office-based, with non-standard work week hours.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years or more of experience as a Law Enforcement Officer.
Preferred QualificationsExperience as a primary investigator/detective on an investigative team.
Advanced degree in criminal justice, public administration, or related field.
Must be a Vermont Level III certified full-time law enforcement officer, or out of state equivalent able to obtain a waiver certification from the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council, within 6 months from date of hire.
Mental and physical condition appropriate to successfully perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, the essential job functions. Applicants may be required to take a physical examination conducted by a physician selected by the Department of Liquor and Lottery.
This position is Group "C" retirement with mandatory retirement at age 57.
