SAIC is seeking an Instructional Multimedia Designer for the Defense Nuclear Weapons School (DNWS) on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM. The Multimedia Designer is responsible for reviewing, developing, and building multimedia content for in-resident and e-Learning course materials such as 2D/3D animations, static and motion graphics, photography and video assets.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce multimedia assets, such as 3D animation, 2D static graphics, photography, and videography in support of course material for in-resident and e-learning training platforms.
- Designs and develops multimedia applications, systems, and products involving computer graphics and interactive computing for in-resident, virtual, and e-learning platforms, as well as briefings and presentations.
- Generate and present storyboards, briefings, style guides, job aids, and other tools used in the development of training materials.
- Provides the technical knowledge and expertise on computer graphics, digital photography videography, HTML-5, animation software, etc.
- Works closely with Academic Instructors and Information Technology (IT) to support the cross-functional delivery of media for use in in-resident & online learning.
- Identifies new graphics software and methodologies and evaluates appropriateness for DNWS.
- Ensures DNWS compliance with security policies, accreditation standards, and copyright.
- Oversees technology plans that increase the program's ability to enhance course design and strengthen content delivery.
- Researches and implements plans to expand the methods of developing media that appeals to students varied learning styles and maximize retention and student value.
- Assists faculty in ensuring courses meet the high educational standards of DNWS; conducts annual review of course material to ensure accuracy and high standards of media.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME), Course Managers, and Instructional Staff to develop appropriate media, graphic, and visual content for course materials and methods of instruction.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience
- Multimedia design experience, 3D Animation, and non-linear editing (video & audio) as well as style guides, layout, color, font themes/typography, and photo editing.
- Experience in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Captivate, Audition, etc.), Maya or 3ds Max.
- Knowledge of digital media, virtual, and e-learning approaches to education and training including instructional video production principles, methods, techniques, and standards.
- Knowledge of Learning Management (LMS) and Learning Content Management Systems (LMCS) such as Blackboard or Canvas, and e-learning integration.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to apply policies and procedures consistently and correctly.
- Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving.
- Demonstrable expertise in use of e-learning authoring software such as Articulate Storyline 360 and Adobe Captivate.
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a collaborative, team-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of User Experience (UX) concepts and applied User Interface (UI) design as well as testing methods.
- Ability to develop e-learning material compliant with Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) concepts and applications.
- Knowledge of the four levels of interactivity for e-learning including principles and techniques to enhance user interactivity and engagement.
- Knowledge of instructional design practices with the ability to convey complex technical concepts.
- Knowledge of current issues, trends, and best practices in multimedia.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and outside agencies.
- Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility compliance requirements.
