Position Summary   


We are currently seeking a professional and experienced Insurance Agent to join our American Home Insurance (AHI) organization. This position encompasses sales, communication and administrative skills which are needed to sell and process property insurance business for customers of Richmond American Homes. This activity requires effective verbal and written communication with customers, underwriters, peers and company personnel. These skills will also be required to sell additional lines of insurance (such as auto and life) to Richmond American Home clients, current AHI clients and clients attained through AHI prospecting/marketing activities. The specialist needs to respond promptly to customer requests, provide expertise on products, concepts and illustrations, and cultivate an amicable client relationship that can lead to future purchases of AHI products. The incumbent in this role will maintain an intense focus on ongoing insurance education, and increased knowledge and sales experience.



  • Contacts potential clients, via phone, e-mail etc. utilizing RAH leads to market and offer property insurance products.
  • Works with appointed insurance carriers to determine the best product and pricing fit for client.
  • Creates insurance sales proposals for prospective clients and presents options – RAH Property Customers.

Job Functions in addition to property insurance sales to RAH clients:

  • Works with RAH clients to bundle sales of additional lines of business – e.g. auto and life insurance.
  • Works with current AHI clients to cross-sell additional lines of business – e.g. auto, property and life.
  • Works with potential clients attained through AHI-generated prospecting/marketing activities (e.g. realtor relationships) to sell multiple lines of business – e.g. auto, property and life.
  • Works with appointed insurance carriers to determine the best product and pricing fit for client.
  • Creates insurance sales proposals for prospective clients and presents options – Non-RAH property customers.
  • Processes all business sold in a timely manner.
    • This includes; completing all documentation requirements to submit and issue business with appointed carriers, producing evidence of insurance (EOI) certificates, entering production into the vision system on deadline, providing required documentation to be scanned by management team.
  • Focuses on obtaining ongoing insurance education, knowledge and experience and maintaining required licenses.
  • Supporting and participating in AHI marketing/prospecting activities.




Education: High school diploma or equivalency required.


Experience: Minimum two-years of insurance experience or other business experience deemed appropriate. Must have at least one year of sales experience, insurance preferred but not mandatory. Experience working in a professional business environment is mandatory.


Skill in: Sales skills are necessary. Telesales, verbal and written communication sills, computer skills such as MS office, WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and strong interpersonal skills are required.


Licenses or certifications: The proper state insurance licenses and completion of the mandatory continuing education requirement as outline by the State Insurance Commissioner.

  • Base Salary: $30,722
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Eligible for commissions
