Team Lead, Software DevelopmentThe Position:

We want to hire lead developers that are eager to have significant influence on a massive technology overhaul using nothing but the best products, patterns, and practices!
We believe in decoupled, message-driven, and distributed systems. We strive to keep codebases small and manageable. We are interested in reactive design patterns that will make our systems more resilient and responsive yet remain elastic to change. As we proceed through our technology roadmap, we are evaluating new community endorsed technologies for every tier of our platform. Our backend tiers are presently JVM-based. We are using or considering technologies like Kafka, Spring Boot, Angular, Bootstrap, REST, Chef, Terraform, Openstack, Azure, Elasticsearch, NoSQL, Docker and so on.
Your Challenge:
• Assume a high level of ownership of all work developed by members of the team
• Contribute to delivery plan, providing information around scope, resourcing, dependencies and risk
• Keep the team on track for delivery schedule, and escalating to the appropriate stakeholders if this is not the case
• Act as Scrum Master for the team, effectively facilitating ceremonies and driving self-organizing culture
• Push for better Agile Practices, better Processes, better Solutions
• Encourage discussions on team processes within the team and provide constructive feedback on ideas
• Collaborate with other teams to implement improvements to SDLC (e.g. CI/CD, code review guideline, branching strategy, etc.)
• Bring back wider (departmental or organizational) knowledge to others on the team
• Be aware of individual and overall team morale
• Provide timely feedback to team members regarding both positive scenarios, and opportunities for improvement
• Intervene when conflict arises between others, de-escalating the situation
• Thrive in a highly collaborative company environment where agility is paramount
• Ensure Software Development Best Practices are established and followed by the team
• Proactively understand stakeholder needs, goals, expectations, and viewpoints to deliver results
• Make difficult decisions without needing to rely on others, but know when to consult others
What You Bring:
• 7+ years working in a development team
• 2+ years leading a team
• Expert in Java and the JVM
• Expert in the Spring Framework
• Experience of Cloud Native Development targeting a major Cloud Provider
• Experience working with Linux Virtual Machines in a Cloud Environment
• Experience with microservices architecture
• Experience with Test Driven Development
• Familiar with Infrastructure as code and cloud orchestration frameworks such as Chef/Terraform
• Actively involved in, bring up and defend software design decisions
• Mentor team members, share the experience and help them get better
• Experienced Scrum Master
• Solid Understanding of DevOps
• Stay up-to-date with new web technologies on the front and back end through self-study, blogs, meetups, conferences, etc.
• Always have quality in mind and you employ community accepted testing principles, best practices, and tooling
