As an Ultrasound Technician you are directly involved in patient care, helping physicians diagnose and detect diseases and other medical concerns. You will also be responsible for preparing patients for diagnostic testing, comforting them during the exam and answering questions. You'll work with a wide range of age groups, each with their own specific needs.



About this unit:

  • Supportive and Collaborative Team environment

  • Work with a variety of hospital staff, including Nurses, PCTs, Lab Professionals, Physicians and more

Responsibilities:

  • Produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs, using ultrasound equipment, for use by the physician in diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of organs.
  • Performs specialized vascular studies including but not limited to: venous insufficiency, vein mapping, ankle brachial index, toe pressure index, carotid Doppler, lower extremity venous Doppler, lower extremity arterial Doppler, aorta, iliac Doppler, abdominal Doppler, renal artery Doppler and post ablation duplex. 

  • Assists physician in imaging and scrubbing during interventional vascular procedures. 

  • Demonstrates proficiency in sterile technique.  Selects equipment for use in ultrasound and procedure setup according to specifications of examination.

  • Ensures images and data are securely and consistently stored in medical record and long-term image storage. 

  • The Ultrasound Tech in this department provides care for ages 0-30 Days Neonate, 1-12 Months Infant,  1-2 Yrs Toddler, 3-6 Yrs Early Child, 7-11 Yrs Child, 12-17 Yrs Adolescent, 18-39 Yrs Young Adult, 40-64 Yrs Adult and 65+ Geriatric patients.

Qualifications


  • Prefer a graduate of an accredited ultrasound program with a degree in Ultrasound Technology and must have current RVT.
  • Must be registered with the ARDMS within 6 months of hire or in position.  BLS upon hire required.
  • On Call Required and must have the ability to report to LSMC within 30 minutes of call back.
