The Highlights: The Business Analyst reports to the Director for Academic Analytics & Scheduling (Director) and is primarily responsible for assisting the director in the areas of classroom scheduling, analytics and monitoring and reporting for full-time faculty. The Business Analyst will assist in quarterly scheduling of classrooms at both main campuses, maintain an accurate record of the university's classroom inventory, provide analytical support, provide data entry and research for intra-unit individual compensation payments (ICPs), and assist in projects. As with all roles in Academic Affairs and Analytics & Scheduling, this position is expected to develop strong enterprise-wide relationships and bring about appropriate action/resolutions related to academic business matters by partnering with the academic units to help link college/school/unit strategic plans and their related needs with the University's strategic, financial and physical plan goals, mission and values.
  What You'll Do:

  • Assist with the quarterly classroom scheduling for the Loop and Lincoln Park Campuses and the processing of event requests for the both main campuses and PC classrooms. 
  • Monitor enrollment, classroom configuration, and technology set-ups to ensure that all instructional space assignments are appropriate to the needs of the faculty and students.
  • Provide financial analysis and modeling support to the Director and academic units using trend analysis, programmatic and performance measurements.
  • Assist in data entry and research of intra-unit ICPs and monitoring/reporting for full-time faculty.
  • Assist in data entry and research of ICPs which cross cost centers/hierarchies.
  • Assist in the preparation and issuance of annual faculty contracts for all segments of full-time faculty.
  • Provide reports/statistics on full-time faculty in order to respond to requests for faculty information both internally and externally.
  • This position does not have authority to bind the university to contracts or negotiate other significant financial matters. 
  • This role does have the ability to investigate on behalf of management, with consult of the director. 
  • This position further assists the Chief of Staff / Senior Associate VP for Academic Administration. 
  • Responsibility for assigning classrooms on a quarterly basis requires the incumbent to work extended and evening hours during the first two weeks of each academic quarter.
     

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 2-3 years of prior professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent independent thinking and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated workplace professionalism, including the ability to maintain confidentiality and organizational hierarchy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with faculty, staff, students and administrators.
  • Incumbent should demonstrate initiative, independent thinking, and good judgment. Will be expected to make routine, day-to-day decisions such as appropriate assignment of classroom space or events without having to consult supervisor.
  • Would also be expected to refer issues that have policy implications to management. 
  • Self-motivated individual, able to work in changing environment.
  • Ability to work with many individuals at various levels throughout the University.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Advanced spreadsheet, database, and word processing skills required.
  • Ability to work extended and evening hours during the first two weeks of each academic quarter.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $47,783.00 to $62,361.09.  The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
