The Highlights: Reporting to the Associate Director of Advising, the Academic Advisor delivers academic advising services to new and continuing CDM students and provides support to new and existing programs and services within the CDM Academic Success Center. The Academic Advisor is a generalist with knowledge of all CDM programs and will also be assigned a student caseload from similar program areas with whom the advisor will work more closely.

 

What You'll Do:

  •   Supports faculty advising and provides academic advising and administrative services to continuing CDM students including, but not limited to:
     Academic curriculum review and course sequence planning.
     Provides academic advising and supports retention efforts for special student populations, including online learning students.
     Academic progress assessment.
     Helps students utilize DePaul and CDM online academic management tools.
     Review of DePaul and transfer institution transcripts.
     Referral to University resources.
     University policy interpretation and assistance with the petition processes related to policy exceptions.
  • Assists with new and existing programs and services within the CDM Academic Success Center, including but not limited to:
     New student orientation
     Academic probation
     Degree conferral process
  • Participates in special events as sponsored by the College, the Office of Admissions, and other University offices, including but not limited to:
     Academic advising week
     Academic success and career workshops
     Commencement ceremony 
     Family weekend
     Open houses
     Student recognition events
  • Participates in professional development activities, technology training, and serves on College and University committees.
  • Assists the Director with other special assignments as needed.

 

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher required.
  • Previous academic advising experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of University operations.
  • Proven commitment to continual process improvement.
  • Possess professional standards of conduct including a strong sense of ethics and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of academic advising theory and practice.
  • Recognize and respect diverse backgrounds.
  • Possess superior interpersonal, written communication skills, and group presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage large amounts of information and be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and team work.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft/Oracle Cloud, web browsing, and PC applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Must participate in the overall team effort of service towards efficient operation of the department.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $42,679.00 to $51,000.00. 

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
