Position Summary  

The Wellness Center Gear Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate records and overseeing the management of all equipment rentals, returns, cleaning, maintenance and storage. The individual reports to the Wellness Center Director and provides regular updates to ensure all gear remains in safe, functional condition for classes and Wellness Center outings. 

This is a temporary, part-time position and expected to work 5 - 10 hours per week. Only current Bellevue College students are eligible to apply. 

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Pay rate: $17.50/hour 

The successful candidate is expected to work 5 - 10 hours per week, depending on departmental needs. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. 

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits. Student employees are entitled to begin accruing paid sick leave from the start of their employment.

About the Department  

The Bellevue College Wellness Center works to enhance our campus climate and enrich the quality of life on campus by fostering growth within the seven dimensions of wellness through outdoor recreation: Social, emotional, mental, physical, environmental, spiritual and occupational.  We work to provide barrier free access and instruction in a wide variety of adventure options to any and all BC students.

Minimum Qualifications  
  • Currently enrolled Bellevue College student in good academic standing (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0) and in good student conduct standing
  • Experience with outdoor recreation
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills 
  • Demonstrate effective organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all students, staff, and faculty in a collaborative and inclusive environment 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Ability to share outdoor activity knowledge in a helpful and approachable manner

     
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Basic bicycle maintenance skills
  • Experience with online and social media promotion
  • Comfort with online documentation tools
Conditions of Employment
