BAE Systems is looking for an Experienced Test Engineer to fill a senior level position, providing support to our Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems contract. The selected candidate will work in a rapid development environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers who designs, develops, evaluates, test, verifies, and provides in-service engineering support for the Navy's Aircraft Launch and Recovery system. This position may require travel in support of system product installation, system operation verification and testing, and certification.
We are searching for a creative out of the box thinker individual to assist our team moving forward into the future. The selected individual will display knowledge of various testing techniques, have great troubleshooting skills, an analytical mindset, and the ability to analyze and communicate test results, detect issues and track root causes and build automated testing system for maintenance and sustainment.
The selected candidate shall also possess fundamental skills in systems engineering necessary for the success of every projects we develop for NAWCAD and will be given the opportunity to create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and quality processes critical to defense work. Specific responsibilities will include gathering product requirements, developing test environments and test cases for all mechanical, electrical, and software systems, working closely with engineers and production team to learn the ins and outs of a product, performing tests through all stages of production cycle to identify potential malfunctions and recommended improvements, and developing the necessary technical documentations required for the product.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates. Applicants must be currently residing in or willing to relocate to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related major and 6 - 10 years of related testing experience
Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
Ability to interpret schematic diagrams, PCB layout drawings (IEEE 91, 315, 991, IPC-2221 a plus), and engineering drawings (ASME Y14.5 a plus)
Basic understanding of analog and digital circuits
Ability to learn new skills and tasks
Attentive to detail
Ability stay focused on task
Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to the problems identified
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop test plans, test procedures, test scripts to perform acceptance and integration testing and write technical documents and user documentation, process flows, etc.
Liaison with customers and other contractors, vendors, etc.
Excellent skills in computer programming essential in developing test vectors
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.)
Team player with a proactive attitude, and the ability to be productive in a dynamic / collaborative environment (e.g. open seating arrangement)
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Strong knowledge of MATLAB and Spice Simulation Software (e.g. LTSpice)
Familiarity with RF hardware including waveguides, couplers, antennas
Familiarity with Common RF Laboratory instruments including Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Oscilloscopes
Familiarity with Shock, Vibration, and Dynamic Motion Simulation and Modeling
Familiarity with Thermal Analysis and Cooling of Electronics Simulation and Modeling
Familiarity with the RedHat Enterprise Linux Environment and Windows 10 Environment
Familiarity with Python
Familiarity with C, C++ programming
Familiarity with NI LabView
Knowledge of the US Navy's Air Traffic Control & Landing Systems
