Hybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

Establishes community engagement strategy for assigned region in partnership with community engagement team leadership. Provides guidance to team members to support a community engagement program. Manages and establishes robust local community stakeholder relationships by developing and improving community engagement partnerships that can be replicated and scaled to advance organizational objectives and goals. Utilizes strategic thinking and relationship building resources to identify and pursue partnership opportunities that align with the company's objectives and community strategy and by managing and maintaining relationships with a broad set of stakeholders. Represents DTE externally at events and in interactions with external stakeholders and organizations. Implements ongoing process improvements to improve efficiencies of programs. Key Accountabilities
  • Maintains active engagement across the region to have a pulse on key needs and opportunities for DTE to be impactful in the communities we serve
  • Identifies key regional organizations that align with DTE's community strategy and develop partnership opportunities and relationships
  • Provides accurate reporting to leadership of engagements and effectiveness of programs
  • Ensures the smooth execution of community outreach processes, including but not limited to community presentations, outreach meetings, partnership events, and providing data and metric reporting as requested
  • Researches, develops, and implements programs that enhance the organization's relations with the community, the public, authorities, shareholders, and employees
  • Contributes to the development of other community engagement team members and seek opportunities to improve team dynamics
  • Reinforces visibility, influence and reputation through community outreach, partnership programs, giving campaigns, grant programs and other charitable initiatives
  • Remains knowledge and up to date on trends and issues in the community impacting our service territory and provide recommendations to address any concerns
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline with seven (7) years of job relevant experience.

  • Ability to think strategically to develop new programs with little or no previous structure in place.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment and often changing priorities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives and recommend optimal solutions for various situations.
  • Strong Computer skills including MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work with people from all business areas and levels
  • Ability to work with varying levels of internal constituents and develop communication for various internal levels
  • Local/Regional travel required
