Job Summary

The Medical Information Specialist (MIS) is responsible for maintaining electronic records including but not limited to demographic updates, entering required data from documents, and assigning/linking to the appropriate medical chart.

 

This is a full-time temporary position anticipated to last 3 months that will work fully onsite from our corporate headquarters in Anaheim, CA.


Responsibilities

  • Accessioning of lab work and exam components of medical surveillance encounters: Exam, Immunizations, Lab Only Encounters, Drug Tests, etc.
  • Data entry of exam components into database(s).
  • Mailing of employee letters including Priority Mail.
  • Clerical functions as needed: faxes, chest x-ray process.
  • Works on new client implementation projects such as record archival and database management.
  • Maintains internal supply requests.
  • Assist with lab exception reports (TIQ and NSR Reports).
  • Assist with department fax and mail sorting.
  • Daily pulling of charts/records for the Data Entry department.
  • Inner filing of miscellaneous medical records.
  • Maintain storage for medical records.
  • Archival of Inactive records in house and at outside storage facilities.
  • Maintain files and file room in an orderly, professional manner.
  • Meet company/client deadlines and company goals.
  • Performs additional duties and assumes additional responsibilities as identified by supervisor for the efficient operation of WorkCare.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • -or- one to three years related experience and/or training.
    • -or- equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to create and edit written materials..
    • Must be able to demonstrate the ability of maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
    • Strong critical thinking skills; problem solving, and decision making.
    • Must have the ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences.
    • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
    • Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors and clients.
    • Strong time management, organizational, and follow-through skills.
    • Ability to meet and exceed daily and weekly individual performance goals.
    • Ability to work independently as well as assisting other team members when needed.
    • Requires regular and predictable attendance and punctuality. 
  • Computer Skills
    • Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.
    • Type 35 words per minute with accuracy.
  • Physical Demands
    • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk. Requires the potential to stand for longer periods of time, working at a copier/scanner. Some bending and stretching required. Working under stress and use of telephone required. Manual dexterity required for use of calculator and computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work Environment
    • The noise level is usually moderate. 
    • Air quality is good, and temperature is controlled.
    • Work Environment must be free from background noise and distraction.

Additional Job Information

The salary for this position is $19.00 per hour.

 

The work schedule is Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm PST. 

 

Working fully in-office from our corporate headquarters in Anaheim is required.
