Job Summary:
We are looking for a full-time Nurse Practitioner to support our onsite clinic in Elwood, IL.
The Nurse Practitioner provides healthcare services to site employees and as needed to support medical and safety efforts at the site.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct patient care and management/oversight for all occupational injuries/illnesses at the work site and regulatory exam testing
- Measure and record vital signs prior to consultations with the doctor
- Administer physical exams and components of regulatory exams which require Nurse Practitioner review.
- Facilitate and coordinate required lab work and diagnostic testing or medical imaging requirements
- Provide immunizations and health screenings to employees as needed
- Maintain a controlled drug register in compliance with all applicable laws
- Direct, perform, and oversee required regulatory testing and medical surveillance (hearing conservation, lead/silica surveillance, respirator fit/pulmonary function testing, etc.)
- Assist with creation/implementation of site-specific treatment protocols
- Active participation in the development/implementation of employee health and wellness programs, advise employer/employees on preventive measures in the workplace and other client-driven needs
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedure to support the contracted Scope of Work.
- Conduct occupationally-focused health screening and assessment programs such as new hire, fit-for-duty, return-to-work, exit exams and substance abuse
- Maintain accurate and timely employee health records and databases while adhering to applicable HIPAA and other regulatory statutes
- Review/modify work-related injury/illness protocols and provide effective case management strategies, including oversight and assignment of restricted work duties
- Provide counseling, ergonomic/functional work analysis, and other occupationally focused care to enhance safety and job satisfaction
- Foster and maintain a collaborative relationship with clients, medical and safety personnel, and fellow staff members
- Maintain open communications and timely reporting with WorkCare and client Medical Directors, WorkCare supervisory staff and other vested interests regarding clinic operations and client requests
- Provides additional services as directed by Physician or Regional Occupational Health Manager
Qualifications
Education/Licenses
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Illinois with national certification
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in an occupational health, urgent care, or emergency setting.
- Must have current DEA license
- Current ACLS/BLS certifications
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability of maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- Strong critical thinking skills; problem solving, and decision making.
- Must have the ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to create and edit written materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors and clients.
- Strong time management, organizational, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to meet and exceed daily and weekly individual performance goals.
- Ability to work independently as well as assisting other team members when needed.
- Requires regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.

- Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.
Physical Demands
- Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
- Some bending and stretching could be required.
- Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
- Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.
- Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
- Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds and climb stairs
Work Environment
- Mainly indoor, office environment conditions.
- The noise level is usually moderate.
- Air quality is good and temperature is controlled.
Final compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
