Job Summary

We are looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to support our client site in Avila Beach, CA. 

 

The Medical Assistant will assist providers, most of clinic processes i.e.  testing & procedures, rooming in patients, chart management, EMR inputting, supplies purchasing & inventory, clinic & equipment upkeep, scheduling, & other clinic administrative task.  

 

Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday from 6:30am to 4:30pm, flexible, based on clinic needs (i.e., Pre-outage and night shifts schedules during outage events)

 


Responsibilities

  • Follows confidentiality and HIPAA laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Follows Site Safety guidelines, policies and procedures for self, employees, contractors or visitors
  • Complying with governmental regulations and WorkCare policies regarding health and safety
  • Assist with clinical procedures and physical examinations (if applicable) such as Pre-placement, DOT, Respiratory Evaluations, and Fitness for Duty
  • Perform diagnostic testing such as vital signs, EKG, audiogram, pulmonary function test, vision acuity, and respirator fit testing
  • Perform laboratory duties such as phlebotomy, urinalysis, cholesterol, and blood glucose testing, and immunization
  • Assist with administering first-aid and supervised medical treatment such as suture removal, ear/eye irrigation, apply splint and dressing as directed by nurse, or other advanced providers
  • Support and asist the clinic during Pre-outage & Outage events including night shift scheduling needs
  • Assist with Humboldt Bay security physicals twice a year, clinic projects, inputting medical records to EMR- Cority
  • Calibrates medical equipment at appropriate intervals
  • Assist with coordinating the inventory, ordering and supply stock maintenance of medical supplies
  • Maintain and coordinates clinic upkeep
  • Performs clinic front-office work
  • Performs various back office administrative functions as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
    • Knowledge and skills equivalent to those acquired through an accredited Medical Assistant education program, including basic knowledge of medical terminology and reporting, to perform office and clinical duties
    • Occupational health experience preferred. High School diploma, GED, or equivalent acceptable with at least 2 years of directly applicable experience
    • Certification to or ability and willingness to become certified to perform supportive medical services (e.g., administer medication, audiogram, spirometry; apply and remove bandages; apply orthopedic devices; select, adjust and instruct re crutch or cane use, remove sutures, perform ear lavage, collect lab specimens, etc.)
    • Certification in phlebotomy preferred
    • Willingness and ability to obtain HIPAA certification upon hire 
    • Valid Driver's License
    • Maintain CMA and BLS certification requirements

  • Computer Skills
    • Proficiency with computers using the Microsoft Office suite of applications for creation as well as modification, how to access and use the Internet and an e-mail program such as Microsoft Outlook, and the use of electronic medical record systems 
  • Physical Demands
    • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
    • Some bending and stretching could be required.
    • Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
    • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.
    • Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
    • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

 

  • Work Environment
    • Mainly indoor, office environment conditions.
    • The noise level is usually moderate.
    • Air quality is good, and temperature is controlled.

Additional Job Information

This position has a salary range of $25.00-$28.00 per hour. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
