Job Summary
The Legal and Contracts Manager is responsible for overseeing the contract administration staff and provides compliance guidance on complex contracts, renewals, service agreements, etc. Directs and develops policies and processes that govern the contract administration staff and provide guidance on contract terms and the assessment of contract proposals. Prepares proposals, negotiates contracts, and administers commercial and government contracts in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. Works with leaders on responses and actions related to legal requests including subpoenas, legal notices, etc. Ensures that department goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages the Contracts Team to ensure the department is meeting goals and deliverables; Oversees hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Develops, prepares, and administers contracts, bids, and proposals that meet specifications and comply with all policies and regulations.
- Lead in contract negotiations with suppliers, vendors, partners, etc.
- Reviews contract terms to identify any potential risk or compliance issues.
- Examines supporting materials and agreement documents related to bids or contracts and provides guidance.
- Acts as liaison between the organization and subcontractors to implement the contracts.
- Support CFO in negotiations for complex or high-value customer contracts.
- Maintains contract records used to ensure compliance with reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Cultivate relationships with applicable internal business partners to drive support, understanding and collaboration on Contracts effort.
- Embody and promote WorkCare values and ethics.
- Works with HR and other department leaders on responses and actions related to legal requests including subpoenas, legal notices, etc.
- Perform additional duties and assume additional responsibilities as identified by manager for the efficient operation of WorkCare.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree; Advanced degree preferred; Paralegal preferred.
- Requires 5+ years experience in Contracts Administration; 3 years supervisory experience required.
- Skills and Competencies
- Has deep knowledge of the contract life cycle, types of contracts, and applicable government regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in Contract Administration, ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
- Strong understanding and knowledge of all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Have a positive, collaborative, inclusive team and servant-oriented approach with a desire towards mentoring and developing staff.
- Innovative problem solving and strategic thinking skills, along with strong business and financial acumen and analytical capabilities
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

- Computer Skills
- Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.
- Physical Demands
- Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
- Some bending and stretching could be required.
- Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
- Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.
- Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- Work Environment
- Mainly indoor, office environment conditions.
- The noise level is usually moderate.
- Air quality is good and temperature is controlled.
- Work Environment must be free from background noise and distraction, noise level is acceptable, temperature is controlled. At home set up must meet all Company IT, privacy and safety requirements.
