Description
The Nursing Assistant carries out all assignments given by the Registered Nurse, is accountable for all patient care given during a shift, is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care and for promoting teamwork among co-workers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist patients with all aspects of personal hygiene (bathing, shaving, oral care, giving and removing bedpan or urinal, etc.)
- Ensures patients dietary needs are met Assist with serving trays, assists with completion of menus, provides snacks as needed and provides fluids.
- Provides a safe and comfortable environment.
- Obtains specimens as needed by MD, per Charge nurse instructions.
- Takes vital signs accurately at prescribed times.
- Turns and positions patients.
- Accurate documentation of intake and output.
- Responsible for the following treatments:
- finger stick glucometer
- hot and cold compresses
- simple dressing
- perineal care
- post mortem care
- weights
- Adheres to infection control standards.
- Monitors IVs in conjunction with co-assigned nurse and Charge nurse.
