Wilson Health is seeking a Staff Nurse Specialist for our Surgical Services Department in Sidney, Ohio.  The position combines the responsibilities of a Clinical Educator and Staff RN.  The Clinical Educator component of the role provides our Surgical Services Department with educational support.  This includes needs assessments, and providing standardized education to meet department needs as well as general education including but not limited to orientation, annual competency assessments, regulatory, accreditation and certification.  Assists in the design of education based on educational standards, evidenced based practice and Wilson Health policy.  The Staff RN component provides general nursing care to patients and families while collaborating with the healthcare team.   Key Perks and Benefits:

We are committed to making a difference for our neighbors, friends, and family and our vision is to be a trusted, nationally recognized leader of innovative, collaborative community health.  Wilson Health's Surgical Services Department performs more than 4,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries and other procedures annually in the fields of gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, ear, nose and throat surgery, urology, podiatry, plastic surgery, and endoscopy, as well as radiology interventional procedures. The department is staffed by board-certified surgeons and anesthesiologists, highly skilled registered nurses, surgical technologists, sterile processing technicians, medical assistants, and X-ray technologists.   The Role You'll Contribute:
  • Support the educational needs of clinical staff for the advancement of clinical practice and professional development. Provide orientation for new personnel, in-service education, and continued education to meet the needs of the staff.
  • Utilize evidence-based methodology to build educational plans and programs.
  • Demonstrate expertise in clinical practice, and continually evaluate quality data to guide educational needs of nursing staff.
  • Serve in collaboration with nursing and interprofessional leadership, the Professional Practice Organization, and other Wilson Health entities to implement nursing education and professional development programs.
  • Serve as a resource to the nursing staff.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accept, model, and implement change.  Serves as a role model for clinical staff.
  • Applies design principles and integrates technology to ensure effective learning experiences.
  • Provide the highest quality care experience for Wilson Health's patients and their families.
  • Assist Director with day-to-day operations in the Surgical Services Department and provide support in various operational functions, including leading and supporting staff as appropriate.

The Expertise and Experience You'll Need to Succeed: Bachelor's degree in nursing 3-5 years relevant clinical experience Minimum 2 years' experience as a clinical preceptor or Nurse Educator Current RN License valid in the state of Ohio Current BLS Required to obtain ACLS within one year of hire date.  PALS and TNCC certification within two years of hire date
