Program Description:

The Behavior Health Solutions Center (BHSC) transitional shelter is a 30-day program designed to support people living with behavioral health and substance misuse disorders who are transitioning from our crisis stabilization center. The BHSC serves people referred by emergency services to divert people from jails and hospitals to provide stabilization and connect to resources including housing, employment, and medical care.

Clinical Student Intern – Transitional Housing & Crisis Stabilization Division

In-person and unpaid internship

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors student or first year Masters student.

Student Supervisor's Credential Level:

LCSW, LAC

Requirements: 

Must be working on either bachelors or master's in human services, psychology, or social work field.

Description:

  • Coordinate case management services and other services both inside and outside of WellPower.
  • Assess residents throughout the day, and provide appropriate interventions. Encourage, support, and train consumers in activities of daily living (ADLs) - teaching consumers about hygiene, help make appointments, show how to do household duties/chores, such as cooking, cleaning.
  • Provide crisis de-escalation services.
  • Document all significant consumer interactions toward recovery and continuity of care.
  • Complete necessary documentation, such as the daily log and client documentation in shift notes.
  • Respond to consumer and building emergencies and facilitate appropriate interventions.
  • Advocate for acceptance and integration of individuals with mental illness within the neighborhood and community in which they live.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
