This position is for 8 hour shifts with 40 hours per week. The position is primary to first shift, but can be scheduled for other shifts based on department needs. The applicant will be cross trained to other functions within the department and scheduled to these functions as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Serve/Safe Certification preferred
  • Previous experience in Healthcare Nutrition Services work is preferred
  • Previous Cooking experience required
  • Previous experience in a large industrial kitchen required
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the planning, organizing, and direction of the activities of the food production sections of the department. Expediting the job duties to staff such as cook, cook help and/or foodservice workers assigned to pre-preparation of food products
  • Performs the duties and responsibilities of the chef by performing tasks such as weighing out standardized recipes, pre-prepping foods, cut and trim meat, fish and poultry, spice or season as required by recipe, cook, bake and portion cooked foods to assure effective portion control and optimum utilization of food items.
  • Work with the staff to teach recipes, techniques, and specialty preparation processes.
  • Reviews menus as necessary considering seasonal, and market changes when planning future menus and special events.
  • Compile dietetic information for use by kitchen personnel in preparation of food.
  • Employee is competent and knowledgeable to fulfill nutritional requirements for normal, modified, therapeutic diets, and other special diets.
  • Helps with special functions such as large catered events or small group lunches
  • Provides foods for local community feeding programs meeting state and local regulations
