Position Overview: The Division of Genetics within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia invites applications for the position of Division Director. This is a tenure-eligible or tenure-ineligible position available for academic geneticists at the rank of Associate or full Professor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Division of Genetics within the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Oversee a multidisciplinary team of geneticists, genetic counselors, cytogeneticists, and metabolic nutritionists.
  • Contribute to clinical services and participate in on-call genetics care.
  • Foster an environment of research and innovation in genetic disorders.
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for families with genetic or metabolic conditions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the division's clinical and academic missions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Board certification in Genetics.
  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Established academic geneticist with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Active research program (desirable but not required).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of academic leadership and management.
  • Experience in clinical service and participation in on-call duties.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
