Description
The Biomedical Microdevices and Nanotechnology Lab seeks to hire a post-doctoral researcher with expertise in electrochemistry for biosensors, a strong understanding of biochemistry and materials chemistry with the ability to perform assay development. The successful candidate must be able to develop independent protocols for complex novel assays for multiple biomarkers. The successful candidate must have strong grounding in statistics.
This position will focus on intensive research training, professional development and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students. This is a 1-year position, renewable up to 2 years pending funding availability, satisfactory performance, and the completion of the milestones listed below.
- Submission of at least three peer-reviewed journal articles, ensuring each is accepted for publication
- Submission of 3 competitive grant proposals
- Establishing a research trajectory that is distinct from the expertise of the candidates PhD advisor, ensuring advancement of independent scholarship
- Present research findings at 1 to 2 national/international conferences annually
- Securing at least 1 major grant or fellowship
- Delivering lectures or seminars, which will be compensated at the end of each semester
- Attend 3 professional development workshops or training sessions per year
- Participate in at least 2 networking events or academic conferences annually
- Mentoring 2 to 3 undergraduate or graduate students
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
- PhD in engineering or related fields
- PhD graduates of UT Dallas's Bioengineering program is highly preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The individual will closely work with the lab director on the following tasks:
- Independently develop and perform electrochemical bench assays
- Develop assay chemistry for biosensors
- Assay material characterization
- Chemical characterization methods (FTIR, DLS/Zeta, UV-vis, AFM, Raman)
- Write reports, journal articles and grant proposals
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students
- Data analytics for biosensors
Additional Information
- This is a temporary 1-year position, renewable up to 2 years, pending funding availability, satisfactory performance, and the completion of milestones.
- A remote work schedule is not available for this position.
