Description

The Business Analyst Team Lead works with stakeholders from all business units and related third- parties to define and document business processes and software requirements for technology initiatives. The primary purpose is to oversee application configuration, testing and validation while providing support to direct staff; assign resources to support technology roadmaps for PeopleSoft Financials and related ancillary systems including Oracle Hyperion products and related tools.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of related experience or associate's degree and 8 years of related experience or high school diploma and 10 years of related experience.



Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in computing, information systems, accounting or related field and eight to twelve years of progressively responsible PeopleSoft support and analysis experience.
  • Proficient in three or more modules or areas in any of the following tracks:
    • Sourcing to Pay: Procurement, ePro, Jaggaer, Accounts Payable, Travel and Expense, My Wallet, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Contracts, eSupplier, Related reporting, 3rd party Interfaces (Jaggaer, Concur, PaymentWorks)
    • General Finance and Budgeting: General Ledger, Asset Management, Treasury, Commitment Control, nVision, Financial Reporting, 3rd party Interfaces (Banner, Touchnet)
    • Grants Management: Grants, Contracts, Project Costing, Accounts Receivable (AR for Grants and Non-Grant Billing), Related reporting, 3rd party Interfaces (eCert)
  • Extensive experience with PS Fluid Interface; Approval framework and work centers.
  • Extensive experience with SQL, Query Manager and related tools
  • 2 years supervisory or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to use requirements to drive the design or review of test cases, process change requests, and manage a project's scope, acceptance, installation and deployment
  • Solid working knowledge of two or more modules in PeopleSoft 9.1 and 9.2 FMS suite.
  • Guide and manage work efforts of the Business Analysis team
  • Research, review and recommend technical tools and products that promote an effective and efficient team.
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high‐level information into details, abstract up from low‐level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: functional requirements, business requirements document, use cases, development and interface designs. Utilize experience in using enterprise-wide requirements definition and management systems and methodologies.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in written form to interact professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
  • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
  • Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
  • Cherwell (Incident and Problem Management, Request Fulfillment, Change Management, etc.) hands-on experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills, leadership skills, promote teamwork, problem-solving, and understanding of systems engineering concepts
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, Project);
  • Strong skills with operating Phire, Cherwell or any change management and incident management system; Telerik test studio
  • Solid working knowledge of all phases of the application development life cycle specifically business case development, modeling techniques and methods and ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; including technical writing skills
  • Hands-on experience with one or more PeopleSoft applications with emphasis in Financials (Campus Solutions, Portal/Interaction Hub, Human Capital Management, EPM,DataStage) and integrating PeopleSoft with non -PeopleSoft Applications or third-party systems such as Jaggaer, CONCUR, TouchNet and similar Student and other financial systems.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

70% – Contribute independent subject matter expertise and execution of assigned tasks including:
  • Develop, manage and collaborate on standard practices and processes within the SDLC framework.
  • Become a mentor to other business analysts; building a sense of community within the team.
  • Actively promote the value of Business Analysis throughout the organization.
  • Prepare periodic reports on project status, progress, risks, deadlines and resource requirements for specific track.
  • Support project objectives
  • Provide direction, support and feedback within the Business Analysis team.
  • Perform team lead duties including scheduling, reporting to management, supervising analysts, delegating and prioritizing workloads.
  • Resolve issues within and across teams.
  • Recommendations for process/procedure improvements
  • Project management
  • Leverage technology to help reduce manual tasks and continually improve processes.
  • Build and maintain lasting relationships with all business stakeholders.

15% – Contribute independent subject matter expertise and execution of assigned including:
  • Incident management and resolution
  • Request fulfillment
  • Problem management root cause analysis
  • Assisting with compiling/review business cases
  • Planning and monitoring, eliciting and organizing business requirements
  • Translating and simplifying business requirements
  • Requirements management and communication
  • Analysis of business requirements
  • Development of detailed test plans

10% – Collaborate and share knowledge including:
  • Demonstrating functionality and expertise to educate internal/campus customers
  • Documenting and sharing tools, tips and knowledge within and across teams
  • Provide content/develop communication to external end users
  • Posting and reviewing with internal/campus customers helpful documentation for SME

5% – Other functions as assigned

Additional Information

  • Position location will be discussed during the interview process. Location can be Fort Worth, TX or Richardson, TX.
  • Hybrid remote work environment available. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment.
  • Must have the ability to be on Richardson campus with 48 hours of notice.
