Description
The Data Specialist will play a key role in supporting the School of Management's data-driven decision-making processes. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining dashboards to visualize key trends in admissions, enrollment, and exit survey data. The specialist will also assist the Senior Academic Project Manager in compiling and analyzing
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree with six months of experience in a related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be considered.
- Six (6) months of process documentation
- Six (6) months of technical communication
Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with SQL and large datasets.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Experience in higher education or academic administration.
- Familiarity with survey platforms like Qualtrics.
- Knowledge of rankings and accreditation processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Dashboard Development and Maintenance:
- Create and maintain interactive dashboards that provide insights into admissions trends, enrollment patterns, and exit survey results.
- Ensure dashboards are user-friendly, up-to-date, and tailored to meet stakeholder needs.
- Analyze admissions, enrollment, and survey data to identify trends, generate insights, and support decision-making.
- Provide regular and ad-hoc reports to stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Respond to stakeholder requests for data by extracting data from the UTD data warehouse or other relevant UTD data repositories
- Assist in compiling and validating data for institutional and program rankings surveys.
- Support the preparation of data submissions for accreditation agencies, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Collaborate in the design and execution of undergraduate and graduate exit and salary surveys.
- Analyze survey results and integrate findings into dashboards and reports.
- Work closely with the Senior Academic Project Manager to support projects related to academic and career outcomes, student recruitment, and scholarship management.
- Provide technical and analytical support for various short-term and long-term initiatives.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of all data and reports.
- Implement processes to standardize and streamline data collection and reporting methods.

Remote Work Notice
A hybrid remote work schedule may be available (currently 1-day remote weekly). Employee must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required upon employment, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required.
