Description
The Assistant Director of the Career Management Center position is being established to address the unique needs of the Full-Time MBA students. This individual will be fully dedicated to working with this specific audience, creating and organizing networking and career opportunities with employers eager to hire MBA students. The role will operate in a fast-paced, external networking environment.
The position will report to the Associate Director of the Career Management Center and will be based at the JSOM Career Management Center.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field and three plus years relevant professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in corporate management, human resource management, or a closely related field.
- An MBA is highly preferred; however, substantial, relevant work experience in HR, recruiting, or a corporate environment may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in working with various student groups, including the ability to build rapport, establish credibility, and engage effectively with students.
- A “hunter mentality” — persistence in creating and pursuing opportunities for student success and employment.
- Experience in business development, client relationship management, or corporate partnerships.
- A proven track record of networking effectively to create valuable employment opportunities and foster key relationships with employers for MBA students.
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations and perform well under stress.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively seek out opportunities.
- Strong organizational skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Professional Development:
- Work with students to determine their career direction based on their goals, marketability, and the current job market.
- Create and deliver events to educate groups on industry information, job search techniques, and professionalism.
- Engage fully in the Summer Academy and support MBA Lead Camp (a 2-week FTMBA training in August).
- Work with students to perfect resumes, LinkedIn profiles, cover letters, company target lists, timelines, etc. Collaborate with the MBA Career Coaches to maintain quality and consistency of products for all FT MBAs.
- Track the progress of each student and communicate their status regarding internship and full-time job opportunities.
- Understand the needs of Full-time MBA students and seek out internship and full-time opportunities for them.
- Communicate with the MBA Team to understand opportunities with specific employers and ensure students are aware of opportunities provided by the JSOM CMC and alumni.
- Influence students where guidance is needed.
- Work with the Associate Director of CMC to increase the number of companies partnering with UT Dallas on specific MBA hiring programs, including creating and ranking company lists.
- Create, develop, and nurture relationships with MBA hiring companies.
- Calling and meeting with employers is a key component of this position.
- Forward FTMBA resumes to employers.
- Create, develop, and oversee workshops, coffee chats, industry panels, lunch-and-learns, site visits, and professional events with employers for FTMBA students each semester.
- Understand the needs of employers and seek out internship and full-time opportunities for Full-time MBA students (FTMBA).
- Work with the Associate Director of CMC to compile the CMC's weekly, monthly, semester, and yearly KPIs and metrics, including salary and placement data for MBA students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Industry Knowledge:
- A broad and deep understanding of various business industries, business practices, and operational strategies.
- Extensive knowledge of career development, career counseling, job search strategies, job market trends, employer relations, contemporary recruitment methodologies, and trends in career services.
- Experience working specifically with MBA students, including understanding MBA career processing, hiring trends, and the unique needs of graduate-level job seekers.
- Ideally, prior corporate experience or a broad knowledge base of business operations and industries.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade, and present effectively to students, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Expertise in resume building and professional writing, with a focus on preparing students for job market success.
- Ability to develop, implement, and manage programs that drive momentum and successful outcomes.
- Proven experience tracking performance data and making data-driven decisions to optimize strategies.
- Comfortable teaching, mentoring, and influencing students through various stages of career development.

Remote Work Notice:
A hybrid remote work schedule may be available (currently 1-day remote weekly). Employee must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required upon employment. Use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be canceled at any time.
