Associate/Assistant Professor (CHS/CT) Clinician-Educator Track/ Clinical Track

The Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Wisconsin Madison is seeking a Transplant Pulmonologist to join our Advanced Pulmonary Service/ Lung Transplant program.

Program highlights:

  • The lung transplant program at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, established in 1988, is the onlyMedicare-certified program in Wisconsin and has performed over 940 lung transplants. Our program includes multi-organ transplant and adolescent transplants.
  • We are affiliated with the William S Middleton Memorial VA- and are 1 of only 3 VA lung transplant programs in the country.
  • We are accredited as a Care Center by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Pulmonary Hypertension Association, and Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation; and have a gold level certified active ECMO program.
  • Our innovation and expertise result in the shortest wait list times in the region, waitlist mortality below the national average and a long history of exceptional patient outcomes including outstanding post-transplant survival.
  • An expanded, state-of-the-art transplant clinic facility within the UW Hospital opened in the Fall of 2022.
  • The UW has a number of faculty with research focus in the areas of transplant rejection and tolerance.

This position will have clinical responsibilities including:

  • Provision of care (inpatient and outpatient) for patients with Advanced Pulmonary Disease and Lung Transplant in the UW Health and VA settings.
  • Evaluation of patients for lung transplant listing
  • Option for additional areas of clinical focus including interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, general pulmonary disease, and critical care.
  • Opportunity to serve as Associate Director for the Lung Transplant Program based on qualifications.
  • Participate in the clinical teaching of fellows, residents and medical students, didactic teaching, and will support QI and research efforts within the Lung Transplant program.

Qualifications:

  • M.D/ D.O. or equivalent, eligible for a Wisconsin Medical License
  • Completion of an accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship, and BE/BC in Pulmonary Medicine.
  • Experience/training in the care of patients post Lung Transplant and other Advanced Pulmonary Diseases is required.
  • Candidates for Associate rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
