Position Summary:

As part of a teaching team, responsible for the supervision and care of 6 infants or 8 toddlers. Duties include: Using available resources to ensure a quality program for infants and toddlers. Using developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning practices and articulating those to parents and aides. Promoting good health, good nutrition and safety. Providing a respectful, responsive and reciprocal relationship with each child and their family. Working closely with other primary caregivers to ensure continuity of care. Continuing to grow professionally.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $23.88 - $27.75 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $23.88 - $33.84 (Hourly Rate).

Required:

Minimum of 2 years working in a center-based environment.

Must have 3 units of Infant Toddler course work. 6 or more units in infant toddler coursework

Current California Child Development Program Teacher Permit.

Current First Aid and CPR Certification.

Highly motivated to continue learning about infants and toddlers from observation, experience, research theories, consultation with parents, other caregivers and early childhood professionals. Enjoys applying this knowledge in daily program and minute-to-minute decision making with children. Acceptance and appreciation of normal developmental characteristics of the first three years of life (dependency, willfulness, drive toward autonomy, etc.), the early years of parenting and adolescent care giving aides. Ability to mentor teachers, field study students, aides and parents. Good physical and mental health. Energy and resourcefulness. Appreciation of cultures, customs, languages, and child rearing practices different from one's own. Patience and warmth with very young children, ability to build a warm affectionate relationship with each child and family. Values solving problems constructively in the daily work and in interrelationships with children, parents and co-workers; ability to communicate with a broad spectrum of people.

 

Special Conditions Required:

Documentation of absence of active tuberculosis.
