Position Summary: 

The Sustainability Officer 4 applies advanced knowledge of sustainability practices and policies to identify, develop, and implement institutional sustainability efforts.  Incumbent is responsible for establishing an effective communication strategy and managing data collection for sustainability planning and reporting. Responds to information requests and manages updates to the sustainability website and social media channels.  Incumbent will research and monitor trends and innovations in energy and sustainability, compile and analyze sustainability related information and resources as well as research new technologies, green vendors, and green services. Updates sustainability documents and sustainability plan.  Provides expertise and communication regarding sustainability programs to include conducting trainings and presentations.

Salary Range: 

 

Annual Rate  Minimum  $90,500.00           Midpoint      $130,100.00             Maximum         $169,700.00

 

Required Qualifications:

  

8 or more years of relevant experience

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/training in environmental science, management, or policy; architecture; engineering; or public health

Proficiency in all software applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and database applications

Proven ability in organizing, analyzing, interpreting and evaluating utility related data

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of sustainability theories as well as local, national and global sustainability initiatives and best practices

Experience leading cross-departmental teams within a large organization.  Experience with committee and working group structures for managing sustainability

Advanced knowledge of U.S. Green Building Council rating systems as well as understanding of general policies and procedures in the areas of design and construction

General broad knowledge of energy management, transportation, construction, food service, waste management and water resource management

Ability to develop short- and long-range plans for sustainability

Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Advanced ability to organize information, extract relevant data, and prepare reports in various formats

Ability to write clear and concise reports and correspondence and interact effectively with many levels throughout the organization

Knowledge of federal, state and local building codes, ordinances, regulations related to sustainability

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master's degree

LEED Accredited Professional

ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional
