Position Summary:   Art History is the study of works of art and other visual artifacts from all regions of the world and all periods of history. Consequently, the undergraduate curriculum in Art History, with its global perspective, is one of the most diverse disciplines in the humanities. Through Art History, students learn how to describe and interpret a range of objects including sculpture, painting, photography, architecture, and “new media” such as video and performance art. These skills, along with the program's intense focus on writing and verbal expression, prepare students to think critically and to express themselves clearly at a time when visual communication is becoming ever more important.   The SFIAH Program Coordinator applies professional student services concepts to support the donor funded initiative in the Department of Art History. This position provides critical support to students in Art History and the School of Humanities to enhance their educational experience through practical job experience, financial support, and experiential learning. Providing varied student services, the position will coordinate donor funded activities in the areas of student support including, but not limited to, student internships, scholarships/fellowships, research and travel awards, course enhancement activities, and class field trips. Works on moderately complex issues. Receives assistance on more complex issues. The position researches and develops financial reports as requested, requests fund transfers, establishes and maintains appropriate files for financial documentation, performs other bookkeeping and purchasing tasks. This position also provides financial, budgetary and event support for special projects. Duties entail reimbursements, purchasing, travel arrangements for visitors and other duties as needed. Will erve as primary point of contact for the Art History Undergraduate Association (AHUA) and provide administrative assistance as needed to AHUA and the Art History Undergraduate Program.

  The expected pay range for this recruitment is $24.71 - $33.29 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $24.71 - $41.86 (Hourly Rate).

  Required:  
  • 1– 3 years of similar experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and pertinent databases. 
  • Ability to multi-task; verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations. 
  • Ability in problem identification and reasoning. 
  • Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking. 
  • Knowledge of University processes and procedures. 
  • Understanding of University rules and regulations. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite (including Excel); experience with expense tracking 
  • Experience in coordinating special events for students
     
Preferred:  
  • Basic knowledge of student immigration and visa processes pertaining to international students and scholars. 
  • Experience with online student award system 
  • Knowledge of UC and UCI general accounting policies and procedures 
  • Proficiency with UCI accounting systems and forms (KFS, Pal-Card, Purchase Order, Check Request, General Ledger, Recharge, Transfer of Funds, Cash on Deposit, COGNOS, general ledger inquiry, purchasing methods, etc).
