The Physical Therapist 2 reports to the Rehab Services Supervisor 2 for Acute Care Physical Therapy. The Physical Therapist 2 serves UC Davis Health as a journey level therapist, with two or more years of experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist and has experience working in a variety of clinical settings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • California Licensed Physical Therapist (PHYSTHER)
  • Must possess and maintain CPR certification (American Heart Association or on-site through UC Davis Health).
  • Must possess a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Demonstrated recent several years (Minimum of 2 years) of clinical experience in the field of Physical Therapy.
  • Complete working knowledge of, and skill to apply, practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to area of expertise.
  • Written and oral communication skills to provide information, explanations, and instructions clearly and concisely to, and to elicit information from others with varying levels of ability to understand, including individuals who are ill or distressed, or who may not speak English.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain a friendly, welcoming environment for clinic's/department's customers; to demonstrate an interested, understanding, compassionate manner; to maintain a courteous and calm demeanor; and to use a proactive approach to negotiate with and persuade others to take required action.
  • Ability to maintain composure, efficiency and a positive, customer-service oriented manner during periods of peak workload, with frequent interruptions, under tight deadlines, and when interacting with challenging customers who may be ill, angry, or emotionally distressed.
  • Problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem; identify the resources available to help solve the problem; create and implement viable solutions; and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.
  • Decision-making skills to independently exercise delegated authority to act, and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others when limits of delegated authority have been reached.
  • Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment always exists.

Department Description

The primary purpose of the Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital is to provide a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity. The hospital is a 52-bed rehabilitation hospital on the Sacramento medical center campus. It is equipped with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units where patients can practice typical activities of daily living. The rehabilitation hospital also includes a 12-bed brain injury unit and four private rooms for bariatric patients.
