POSITION TITLE: Technical Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Perioperative Services
REPORTS TO: Clinical Manager of Perioperative Services EFFECTIVE DATE:
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, will actively assist in coordination of the day-day activities in the assigned Service Line. The Coordinator takes a leading role in in servicing and orienting new staff, performance improvement, scheduling and working with physicians for improved outcome, and precepts new employees. The Technical Coordinator ensures effective communication with the physicians, circulating nurses, surgical technicians, ancillary staff and patients to maintains an environment conducive to the patients well-being.

TECHNICAL SKILLS/JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
TELEPHONE SKILLS-Demonstrates hospital telephone etiquette by answering the phones promptly, courteously and identifying department and self.
POLICIES/PROCEDURES- Is aware of and follows all hospital and department policies and procedures.
TEAM WORK-Promotes positive co-worker relationships through team work and cooperation. Understands and supports the needs of individuals in other departments and promotes conflict resolution. Shares information, work knowledge and experience with coworkers, physicians and students in a non-threatening manner. Offers assistance and promptly responds to requests.
PRODUCTIVITY-Maintains high productivity and performs efficiently regardless of whether the work volume is high or low. Appropriately prioritizes work activities. Responds to difficult situations with self-control and a positive attitude. Makes decisions independently and knows when to ask for assistance. Exercises good judgment and arrives at sound decisions.
Maintains the workflow of the department to ensure complete, accurate and timely work product. In conjunction with the RNs, plans and organizes education for the department by arranging and or giving in-services, and identifying any training needs,
Review O.R. schedule with Scheduling Coordinator and assist in obtaining special supplies and/or equipment for surgical procedures Collaborates with Clinical Manager, Surgeons, OR team and ancillary staff, and Materials Department-in maintaining equipment, instrumentation and supplies
Actively participates in the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives, and maintains the standards for service excellence,
Participates in unit based, departmental, and hospital wide committees as requires by the Director of Perioperative Services.
In conjunction with department management, is responsible for the oversight of equipment repairs and tracks frequency & costs. Tracks process for timely allocation of supplies by physicians.
Assists the O.R. Scheduling Coordinator with data retrieval, statistics and patient charges. Performs other duties as assigned.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE MANDATORY:
Good organizational skills.
Acute care experience
BLS Certfication from American Heart Association
PREFERRED:
Surgical Tech Certificate
Minimum 5 years experience in Service Line assigned to
Graduate from Accredited Surgical Tech Program
Completion of medical terminology class or knowledge of medical terms.
Computer Knowledge.
High School Diploma or GED
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to operate long periods of standing
Must have dexterity, coordination, visual/acuity to perform job duties.
Must be able to reach, stretch and bend routinely.
|Able to lift and turn patients. Able to push/pull gumeys, beds, and heavy equipment using correct body mechanics
