Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Anatomic Pathology Manager, the HLT III independently performs a broad range of technical and non-technical procedures that encompass the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical activities.  Assists in the gross room to pick-up specimens, gross surgical specimens, cut/stain frozen sections, procure tissue for research, accession, clean and maintain work area including laboratory equipment.  Assists with autopsies to prepare for the procedure, collect various samples during the procedure, take measurements, take photographs, morgue duties and clean-up and maintain the autopsy suite. Perform all duties in a manner consistent with current laboratory safety standards. Assist in preparing/ maintaining compliance as established by regulating agencies such as CAP, TJC, OSHA and other federal and state agencies. Additional duties include inventory and ordering of supplies, clerical, telephone, and communication with laboratory customers. Other duties as assigned

Salary Range: 

 

Hourly Rate  Minimum   $38.26             Midpoint    $38.26              Maximum    $38.26

 

Required Qualifications:

 

 

An earned Associate degree in laboratory science from an accredited institution with emphasis on medical lab technology courses and sciences.

At least 2 years of grossing experience.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree in biological science with experience in hospital gross room setting.

Experience working in an Anatomic Pathology department with 3 years of grossing experience.

Experience in preanalytical, analytical and post-analytical lab functions and troubleshooting skills.

Understands the autopsy services (documentation and regulations) and morgue tasks.

Knowledge of medical terminology

Knowledge of laws and regulatory requirements for CAP, JCAHO and California State laboratory law for Anatomic Pathology
