  Position Summary:

 

The Center reports to the Office of Global Engagement and assists students in participating in programs abroad that offer unique academic opportunities, international learning and personal development while making progress toward their UCI degree. Graduates who have studied abroad become future leaders – in public, private and non-profit sectors – with a more nuanced understanding of other countries and cultures as well as greater self-awareness and self-confidence. We aim to ensure that our students' study abroad experiences help them affect positive change in the world, both locally and globally.
  Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced marketing professional to perform the full range of marketing activities, including coordinating events and developing and implementing promotional strategies, materials and products designed to promote awareness within the campus, medical center community and to the general public of the Study Abroad Center's services, programs or products. Has a full understanding of industry practices and campus and / or medical center policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues. Under the direction of the Director of Study Abroad, the Marketing and Fundraising Specialist provides marketing and outreach support to the Study Abroad Center for the purpose of expending education abroad enrollment and fundraising. Serves as a liaison to the UCEAP Marketing Committee, and other Outreach focused groups, communities and/or networks to UCI and the Advancement and Alumni Relationship to develop Study Abroad engagement and fundraising efforts. The Marketing and Fundraising Specialist is responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of marketing and outreach activities such as: advocacy, digital, social and brand communications strategies to promote education abroad initiatives. Collaborates with the Study Abroad Center to manage education abroad outreach activities and events, including weekly, quarterly, and yearly recruitment initiatives, event coordination and promotion and develops evaluation tools and metrics to measure the effectiveness and outcomes of SAC marketing, outreach, and fundraising initiatives.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $73,900.00 - $88,850.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $73,900.00 - $133,700.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:  
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Experience in html email design/newsletters/marketing (via internal email broadcast system Zotmail, Mailchimp, etc.). 
  • Experience planning programs, workshops, and events. 
  • Experience with social media platforms and updating content to support unit programs and initiatives in existing and emerging platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Tiktok, etc. 
  • Knowledge and experience in the following (or similar) software applications: WordPress, Cascade, Adobe Creative Suite with skills in Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (for print and digital layouts), Acrobat Pro (including Form Wizard) and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word). 
  • Knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve 
  • Experience with Canva video editing and final cut
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Thorough analytical and written communication skills. Ability to prepare well-organized, up-to-date, easily understood and comprehensive oral presentations, and the ability to deliver oral presentations to large audiences with a good platform demeanor and with sensitivity to audience needs. 
  • Skill to compose and edit written and analytical reports to be clear, concise, and factually and grammatically correct. 
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing mediums and funding sources. 
  • Thorough knowledge of communication principles and marketing techniques. 
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with careful attention to details; ability to coordinate and organize multiple complex projects and tasks and manage competing deadlines to ensure that administrative obligations are met. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication skills, both oral and written; and ability to effectively communicate in a variety of situations, including interpersonal and formal large-group settings to multiple audiences. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with people from diverse groups with different skills, backgrounds and experiences to effectively provide information, identify problems and develop feasible solutions. 
  • Strong skills in event and media activities management. 
  • Skill to interpret and implement program policies and regulations. 
  • Ability to address complex issues and provide suggestions and solutions; ability to maintain security and confidentiality of information and records. 
  • Skill to evaluate office policies and procedures and formulate proposals for improvement. 
  • Willingness to participate in cross-training activities. 
  • Advanced knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel) and Google Docs.
  • Willingness to learn new software applications programs as required.
     
Preferred:  
  • Thorough knowledge of the campus and / or medical center, including its achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives, infrastructure, products and services. 
  • Skill in mentoring less experienced staff. 
  • Demonstrated prior fundraising experience and grant writing in a higher education or non-profit setting.
  • Ability to execute annual giving campaigns and special events.
