Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Histology Supervisor, incumbents prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. Incumbent will embed and cut sections, stain and mount on a slide of surgical, neurological, bone marrow, and autopsy tissue sections so that the presence or absence of disease may be effectively demonstrated to the Pathologist. Might prepare solutions and perform special stain techniques in addition to immunoperoxidase and immunofluorescence procedures. Maintains laboratory inventory and equipment, and keeps Quality Control records of work performed.

Salary Range: 

 

Hourly Rate  Minimum   $37.79              Midpoint      $43.86            Maximum    $49.93

 

Required Qualifications:

 

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization

Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Must have a minimum of one year experience and the ability to embed and perform special stains

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

ASCP certified or eligible histotechnologist
