Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Develops new programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation. Under general supervision and in coordination with department administrators (DAs) of the five departments offering the PhD in Biomedical Sciences, the Director of the SOM Office of Graduate Studies, SOM Payroll, SOM Human Resources, and UCI Graduate Division, provides analyst level support for PhD graduate student financial matters both for those represented by the BR Collective Bargaining Agreement ad those receiving fellowship or other funding.

- 3 or more years analyst level work handling employment, HR and/or payroll
- Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures related to employment. Experience with fund accounting
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
- Analytical / problem-solving skills.
- Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Strong policy analysis techniques.
- Attention to detail in an environment of frequent changes, deadlines and demands.
- Ability to manage high volume of work including complex funding structures.
- Previous experience handling multiple systems to accomplish varying goals.
- Ability to take direction from multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to foster and maintain collaborative and team-oriented approach to work.
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, and contract language with accuracy.
- Experience compiling data for a range of data requests
- Ability to manage workload independently while providing relevant information and status reports to key constituents.
Preferred:
- Previous experience with UC Path and KFS systems
- Knowledge of UC Policies and Procedures, particularly those related to graduate students
- Experience with training grants and extramurally funded fellowships
- Experience with student funding models and/or grad aid systems including tuition, fees and stipends.
- Experience working with collective bargaining agreements.
