Department Overview
University of California Health comprises six academic health centers, 20 health professional schools, a Global Health Institute and systemwide services that improve the health of patients and the University's students, faculty and employees. All of UC's hospitals are ranked among the best in California and its medical schools and health professional schools are nationally ranked in their respective areas. Systemwide Operations is a department within the UC Health Division that improves efficiency, quality, and revenue across UCH academic health centers. Systemwide Operations is responsible for providing oversight of complex processes while executing targeted initiatives with the overarching goal of providing value through systems across all of UCH. Within various initiatives, the goals are increasing revenue, sharing best practices across the system, and achieving significant cost savings. Position Summary
Under the guidance of the Chief Procurement Officer, the Director - Strategic Capital Projects and Partnerships will be responsible for leading the strategic sourcing strategy and execution for the UC Health Systemwide Operations team as determined by organizational priorities. The position entails the implementation and management of strategic initiatives including expansions and new services. The position will also lead capital equipment and construction supply contracting and strategic supplier management. This role partners with medical center staff, executive leadership, and other internal and external business partners to build reduce systemwide costs.

Key Responsibilities

30% Strategic Initiatives Planning & Implementation: Develops long-range strategic plans and objectives through the identification of strategic issues and opportunities that could influence business efficiency. Responsible for the execution of strategic initiatives through the development of work plans, gathering and generation of relevant data, driving analyses, and the development of actionable recommendations.

 

30% Stakeholder & Partnership Engagement: Leads the capital sourcing department across multiple enterprises in launching high priority strategic initiatives under the guidance of the Chief Procurement Officer, while working directly with the business's leadership, executives, and stakeholders. Work with medical center leadership, including capital construction, capital equipment, finance and supply chain, to support new and replacement requirements.

 

20% Business Intelligence & Analytics: Assist in development and management of strategic functions, including but not limited to a) financial analysis, business intelligence, and data analytics; c) program management; a) financial planning and reporting; and d) Savings Reduction Initiatives.

 

20% Project Management: Manage multiple capital projects and tasks to meet goals and timelines; procure necessary resources from multiple departments across affiliate organizations to accomplish project tasks; complete projects efficiently and effectively.


Experience
Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading strategy and business operations of capital sourcing services.

  • Travel requirement: 10% - at least 2 days/month


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the organizational environment of and academic and non-academic health centers to understand client priorities, issues, motivations, and constraints.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Masters preferred in related field such as business administration, health care administration, law, or other relevant field.

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
