Job Summary

Contracts & Grants Accounting (CGA) assists campus faculty and staff in meeting their teaching, research, and operational needs by providing quality financial service for externally funded projects.

The Director of Contracts and Grants Accounting (CGA) performs a key leadership role in, serving he UC Davis community and its various stakeholders. This position holds responsibility for financial information reported on campus and to the UC Office of the President (UCOP) ensuring all CGA related processes are in compliances with all federal, State and Local regulations as sponsor, UCOP and UC Davis policies and requirements. Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field with five plus years of accounting/finance leadership experience within higher education or related setting or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience leading a team with demonstrated skills to effectively manage and develop staff; business management skills to effectively and ethically manage and oversee operation resources.
  • Extensive experience in developing an applying accounting, financial and internal control policy; technical knowledge of GAAP, FASB, GASB, external and internal audit practices and expectations.
  • Experience in directing operational improvement activities as well as strategic initiatives, including ability to acquire, allocate, and optimize resources and manage complex budgets.
  • Experience working with large complex data sets, providing analyses, and developing concise summarizations.
  • Experience with ERP Systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a large research instruction and/or medical center
  • Experience with college and university accounting, fund accounting principles audit techniques and internal control standards in a University of California environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local government in regards to contract and grants compliance

Department Description

Position is responsible for all administration of governmental and privately funded contracts for UC Davis. CGA protects the university's mission and reputation through effective review of funds, thereby ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and restrictions.   In collaboration with the Associate Controller and Senior Finance Management Team, the director of CGA has is responsible for committing staff and systems as needed to accomplish Division and University goals and objectives.

Position Information

  • Salary or Pay Range: $103,500 - $216,500 annually
