THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE: The Senior Analyst, Customer Analytics role contributes to Ulta's business strategy through the use of analytics and influences business decisions made within many internal groups at Ulta. This position will use data to develop insights that influence business decisions among senior leadership and other groups across the organization including CRM & Loyalty, eCommerce, Digital Operations, Finance, Merchandising, etc. in a fast-paced, data-focused retail environment. The Sr. Analyst will utilize innovative analytical approaches to provide customer insights that identify opportunities, and present them to internal teams of various technical expertise. YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH ALL OF THIS BY: Manipulate and analyze data from Ulta's big data environment, including customer profile info, campaign response, and transaction data, using tools such as SQL, SAS, R and Python. Work with internal partners to assess business needs and transform them into meaningful observations by selecting optimal analytic technique(s) such as clustering and segmentation techniques, regression, and propensity modeling depending on the nature of the business problem Distill analyses results into clear, concise and business friendly presentations and deliver those presentations to various levels of audiences including C-suite executives Design and implement intuitive dashboards and visualizations that will enable business teams to understand and act on insight derived from Ulta's complex datasets Develop a strong partnership and collaboration with various internal teams at Ulta Beauty, such as CRM & Loyalty, eCommerce, Finance, Merchandising, Marketing, etc by performing as a team member who consults on how to attain the business goals by leveraging customer data and insights. Advise key business teams on the optimal approach for proving out hypotheses by leveraging test and learn methodologies Ensure data integrity by leveraging proven methodologies, including data reconciliation, data integration and data audits. Take full end to end ownership of small to medium complexity analytical projects Work closely with Managers and Directors on the Customer Analytics team to help drive larger more complex projects and help inform future capability building Coach and mentor junior/less experienced team members as needed ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS: Qualified candidates will have at least 4+ years of experience developing business strategies resulting from quantitative customer and marketing analytics/data mining and presenting those results to the client/business partner. Additional requirements include: Experience working with customer-level data within Retail, CPG, Travel & Hospitality, Financial or related industries. Capable of managing project schedules and deadlines that run simultaneously BA/BS degree in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related analytical degree or experience. Advanced degree preferred. Proven command of SQL, relational databases and MS Excel/PowerPoint (R, Python or SAS a plus) Experience working with cloud computing (Google Cloud, AWS, etc) Experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau) a plus. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills - must be able to communicate complex ideas in both technical and user-friendly language. Capable of working in a dynamic environment, handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, prioritizing appropriately and responding to issues quickly and creatively with an open and positive attitude. Excellent analytical, mathematical and creative problem-solving skills. Energetic and self-motivated - must be extremely organized and detail oriented with an ability to make proactive recommendations. PREFERRED OR SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS Ability to manage larger, more complex projects from start to completion with minimal assistance. SQL, MS Excel/PowerPoint. R or SAS a plus. Outstanding data visualization skills Must be able to see the “big picture” and be able to relate findings across various analyses. Strong sense of curiosity and storytelling. Strong attention to detail. WORKING CONDITIONS Dynamic, fast-paced office environment and remote stakeholders.
